Join travel writers, publishers and tutors Chris Marais and Julienne du Toit for a Story-teller’s Workshop as they trace the magic elements of a good narrative. Schreiner House. R250 pp. places available

David Hilton Barber of Footprint Press introduces the book he recently published for the East Cape branch of the Genealogical Society of South Africa. The 1820 Settlers and other early British Settlers to the Cape Colony is a 600 page collection of texts and pictures paying tribute to the part this intrepid group played in building the South African nation.
14h00 The 'Scenes from the South' exhibition and JM Coetzee's 80th birthday celebrations:  Crystal Warren takes us behind the scenes, with snippets from the exhibition video that was filmed for the National Arts Festival virtual programme. 
15h00-16h00 Amazwi director, Beverley Thomas, introduces some of the creative talents on her staff. Crystal Warren, Zongezile Matshoba, Marike Beyers, and Petro Nhlapo will read their own poetry and prose. Andrew Martin could not join us in person so we will show a video  of his reading of one of his poems.
An Open Microphone session will follow.

Our 'Absent Friends' segment includes videos of Beth Vale talking about her Karoo research, novelist Ian Sutherland and Dr Dean Allen in conversation.
The link to a 12-part video series created by Melina Smit for the AVBOB Poetry Project will also be posted on the festival's facebook page.
